Centre for the Performing Arts, UWE Bristol
The Centre for the Performing Arts, part of the University of the West of England, produce an annual musical extravaganza for which Theatek not only supply the hire of sound and lighting equipment, but also production manage.
Working closely with volunteers of both staff and students, Theatek provide their expertise, supervise and manage all technical aspects such as scenic construction, lighting and sound design, rigging, focusing, programming and operating, transport, liaising with the chosen venue’s technical management, scheduling and crewing amongst a host of other responsibilities.
It is a role that Theatek is pleased to fulfill and which has expanded to cover other events throughout the academic year involving the university orchestra, choir and Big Band. Theatek can provide this, or any subset of this service at any level. Theatek’s involvement with one amateur dramatics company, for example, extends to supply, design and helping to focus the lights, leaving the company to rig and operate – the aspects they are happiest doing themselves.
