Theatek have recently added the Midas VeniceF console to it’s hire stock!  The latest analogue console from Midas however doesn’t forget how digital has revolutionised the audio world.  A firewire 1394 port allows connection of the analogue console to virtually any computer running virtually any audio software allowing extra facilities such as multitrack recordings, plug-ins, software effects and more.  Add to this the legendary Midas pre-amps and parametric eq and we have a great hybrid-console suiting many applications.  Currently Theatek have the VeniceF-16 available but will be adding others from the range in the near future.

Theatek has kicked off the festive season by helping Keynsham switch on their Christmas lights.  Supplying our Turbosound PA system for the main stage and lining the 200m main street with our Adastra 100V horn system Theatek ensured that the entertainment was heard by all.  An extremely talented mixture of community groups and local schools performed whilst people wandered the local shops and market stalls.  Theatek are looking forward to working with Keynsham Town Council again in the future.

Theatek are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a battery recycling service which is completely free of charge!  Just bring all your used batteries back to us and deposit in our battery recycling bin for complete peace of mind. We hope our service, provided by Battery Back, will prevent thousands of batteries from ending up in landfill.  You don’t need to have bought your batteries from us to use our service – it’s open to everyone – but with our battery prices so low we think you’d be silly to buy from anyone else!

Theatek are pleased to announce that they have taken delivery of brand new radio microphone systems from leading manufacturer, Sennheiser to add to their hire stock.

After a difficult decission from a very competitive market Theatek finally settled on Sennheiser EW 500 G3 series receivers, SK 500 G3 bodypack transmitters and SKM 900-965 G3 handheld transmitters. These will be complimented with EW 300 series In Ear Monitors.

The option to add a PC running Sennheiser’s Wireless System Manager to not only help program multiple channel systems but also provide live rf, audio and battery condition readouts is hugely beneficial for larger systems.

We are exceptionally pleased with the handheld transmitters which include the flexibility to switch from cardioid and super-cardioid mode. The daily hire price of these systems are as follows and, of course, multiple systems will come suitably rack mounted.  As ever discounts are available for multiple systems and/or long term hires.

Theatek has been heavily involved with the brand new show Back to Broadway on its debut autumn tour.  During rehearsals in August Theatek’s Chris Horseman helped co-light the show, produce technical riders, risk assessments and provide general technical advise and consultancy.  Subsequently Theatek have supplied the tour with an ETC Element lighting desk and flightcase, lanterns, DPA 4066 headworn microphones and Motorola two-way radios.  We are extremely pleased to have an on-going involvement with this fantastic show.

Theatek was very proud to be asked once again to supply sound and lighting to Bristol Amateur Operatic Society for their September production of Footloose at the Redgrave Theatre in Bristol.

Theatek supplied BAOS with an ETC Ion lighting desk and a mixture of moving and conventional lighting fixtures for the 80′s pop spectacular! The production saw the first use of Theatek’s brand new Sennheiser Evolution radio transmitters complete with Sennheiser MKE2 Gold lavalier microphones.  The PA sytem comprised of our trusted Turbosound TMS2′s with TSE118 sub-woofers. A fantastic week was had by all and we look forward to working with BAOS again in the very near future.

When Garsington Opera moved to their new home at Womsley in the Chiltern Hills they decided to look for a new sound supplier and Theatek was only to happy to help out.

Dan Gregory from Theatek supplied Garsington Opera with full sound, audio visual, communications and custom build Prompt Desk. Sound consisted of Tannoy loudspeakers for the Front of House PA system and stage foldback system with microphones from AKG, radio mics from Sennheiser and small format mixing desk from Soundcraft.

Stage management systems and communication featured a full wired comms system from Tecpro including a mixture of single channel and dual channel beltpacks together with Stonewood Audio Cue Light system.

The custom built Prompt Desk rack containing cue light and comms master stations, hard disk recorder and HD LCD video screens. Show relay system included loudspeakers from TOA, Plasma TV’s for conductor picture relay, front of house cameras and infra red light sources.

This week saw Bristol Amateur Operatic Society (BAOS) perform Jesus Christ Superstar at Bristol University’s Victoria Rooms.  Theatek supplied the lighting (designed in house by our own Chris Horseman) which consisted of a mixture of conventional theatre lights alongside LED pars and battens.  The set included a 4m by 2.5m truss cross which was spectacularly lit by the LED fixtures.  The show has received excellent reviews from the local press with much praise for the lighting.  Director Matt Jeanes was especially pleased with the results and is already looking forward to working with Theatek and Chris again on his next show.  If you would like us to get involved with your amateur or school production then please feel free to contact us

Theatek recently provided sound and lighting for CBeebies star Boogie Pete who appeared at @Bristol on 11th March to launch an exciting new fundraising DVD which aims to get children moving and raise money for local charity  Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF)

Pete, of Boogie Beebies fame, MRF mascot Marvin the Friendly Monster and local children all feature in the DVD Boogie Fit with Pete and Marvin. The DVD features six catchy new songs and simple dance routines designed to appeal to pre-school children.  At the launch Boogie Pete took a live Boogie Fit session with local under six year olds consisting of disco fun and dancing and singing activities.

Theatek provided a range of conventional and LED lighting alongside a Nexo loudspeaker rig with AKG radio microphones for the host, and of course the star, Boogie Pete himself!

Theatek have brought a new look in with the new year to visitors to our warehouse.  A new sales counter has been added to the entrance giving customers who call a place to be when visiting!  Whilst having the obvious benefits of being a place to do the business-side of things, the sales counter also stocks a wide range of consumable items which can be offered at very competitive prices.  Batteries, lamps, PVC, gaffa and of course, MSL Firecheck are all stocked behind our new counter, and as usual we are always willing to order in items which are a little more obscure!

There is normally someone in the warehouse between 9:30AM and 5:00PM Monday to Friday, but as alway please give us a quick ring (0117 978 2360) to double check someone is in beforehand!  Please also call us if you want to visit outside these hours!
